Our Opinion
Athuruga is always in big demand and sells out virtually year round. It has a stunning house reef, has a comprehensive all inclusive programme, a wonderful atmosphere, lovely bunglows and sumptuous food. It appears to be more money than other 4-star resorts but there is a very very good reason for that and it does everything well! If you are looking to keep your holiday budget under control consider Athuruga all inclusive holidays as the majority of your spend will be done before you travel. If you are going for 14 nights, consider a twin-centre Thudufushi and Athuruga itinerary. Athuruga is located in the South Ari Atoll, approx. 25 minutes b y seaplane from Male island.
Accommodation
Athuruga has 46 beach bungalows just yards from the waters edge and 25 beautiful Water villas. Each room includes king size bed, air-conditioning & ceiling fan, minibar, coffee and tea making facilities & IPOD units.
Beach Bungalows – The beach bungalows at Diamonds Athuruga face the pristine water with direct access to the beach. Each has a private deck veranda with armchairs, coffee table and sun beds and all rooms also have open air showers.
Water Villas – Athuruga has 25 water villas host a private large terrace with direct access to the water. The tasteful furnishings in the villas ample living space include custom made rattan furniture, Italian contemporary lighting and handmade inlaid wooden parquet floors which make a setting where guests can realise their fantasy of living life to the fullest, while on holiday. Water Villas include an Apple i-Mac with a wide variety of music and movies, and include access to the a la carte overwater restaurant. Whichever accommodation you choose on your Athuruga holidays you can be certain you will be well looked after and enjoy the beautiful setting.
Restaurants & Bars
Diamonds Athuruga island resort has a good choice of restaurants and bars for guests to enjoy whilst on holiday.
Main Restaurant – Located on the island serving American breakfast buffet, buffet lunch and for dinner, a fusion of Italian, Asian, Oriental and Maldivian cuisines with theme nights buffet and fish barbecue. Lobsters and prawns menus are available at charge for private dinners on the beach.
Water Villas Restaurant – International and Italian cuisine with selection of fresh seafood and fish. Dining at the restaurant its included for the Water Villas guests while for the Beach Bungalows guests it’s with supplement and upon reservation.
Pizzeria Restaurant – Located on the island serving freshly baked pizzas for lunch and for dinner.
Main Bar – Located on the island serves a large selection of cocktails, liquors, beer, wine, fresh juice and soft drinks. Champagne and premium spirits are available at charge.
Water Villas Bar (located along the pier) – Serves a large selection of cocktails, liquors, beer, wine, fresh juice and soft drinks in a comfortable open over water deck. Champagne and premium spirits are available at charge.
