Faarufushi Maldives
One of the newest additions to the Maldives’s five-star resort portfolio, Faarufushi brings barefoot luxury to the remote northern Raa Atoll. There’s a real focus on simple indulgences here; the minimalist design is a delicate addition to the island’s natural beauty and there’s a fantastic house reef which is perfect for snorkelling. If all you want to do is as little as possible, head to the Nika Spa’s treehouse-style couple’s treatment rooms for an afternoon of indulgence and undisturbed relaxation.

Our Opinion
Chris recently visited Faarafushi on an educational to the Maldives. The island is in pristine condition, and whilst it’s a brand new resort, there is a real emphasis on maintaining the pre-existing jungle environment, so the beautiful foliage is already in full bloom, which often isn’t the case in new resorts. There was a really special laid-back luxury feel to the place, and the food was absolutely fantastic.

Restaurants & Bars
The three excellent restaurants here are modern and relaxed.
Overlooking the infinity pool, Iru is Faarufushi’s all-day dining restaurant where you can enjoy an indulgent breakfast buffet in the morning and delicious à la carte choices for lunch and dinner.
Beside Iru you’ll find the Sangu Bar, a relaxing open-air lounge that’s the perfect setting for laid-back pre-dinner drinks.
Athiri is the island’s casual beachside eatery, where you can find anything and everything, from tapas, ceviche and teppanyaki counters to bagels, paninis and delicious wood-fired pizzas.
Beside the calm lagoon waters, Eclipse is the signature overwater grill restaurant, where you can enjoy modern European cuisine with a gourmet Asian twist.
For that ultimate unobstructed shot of the ocean, Boli sits right at the reef’s edge and is the perfect follow-on to dinner at Eclipse. This stylish overwater bar offers a sunset view year-round, and is the ideal spot to sample carefully curated cocktails and an extensive menu of hand-picked wines and different gins.
