Three nights and four days via Broken Hill, Adelaide, Cook and Kalgoorlie, one way, 4,352km. This definitive Australian adventure takes you the breadth of this great Southern land.
Day 1: Depart Sydney
Depart Sydney in the afternoon and start a true journey of contrasts – it will take you through the heights of the majestic Blue Mountains and across the barren expanse of the Nullarbor Plain, to lush vineyards and vast goldmines, and from cities of 4 million to ghost towns of just four citizens. Named for the two oceans the train encounters on its journey, the Indian Pacific travels between Perth and Sydney, via Adelaide, in a spectacular 4352km journey. Get acquainted with staff and your cabin, and settle in for the journey. As you venture beyond the city limits, settle back, open a book or switch on your onboard radio upon approach to the spectacular Blue Mountains. Meet fellow guests at Outback Explorer Lounge to meet fellow guests and help yourself to a welcome drink. As the train continues to navigate the heights of the ranges, it is time to sate your appetite with one of the Indian Pacifics signature dining experiences. Perhaps sample the grilled swordfish or the tender lamb shoulder slow-cooked in Kangaroo Island honey and black vinegar? Just make sure you leave room for your dessert which could be the apple and wild rosella flower strudel or a regional cheese plate comprising Hunter Belle blue, Alexandrina cheddar and Margaret River brie. After a sumptuous dinner, join other guests for a few late-night drinks or head to your cabin to settle in early and await the sights of your first incredible outback sunrise the next day.
Day 2: Broken Hill & Adelaide
